Summer Camp, Greensboro, NC

Summer camp is a time for learning, excitement, and fun.

For some children, summer means a break from school and fun times relaxing at home, traveling with family, and breaking up the routine of the school year. But, for other children, summer can be a time of stress and loneliness. Working parents may worry about how to make sure their children are in a safe and nurturing environment while they continue to work in the summer months. For many families, this is why summer camp is such an important consideration each year.

At Shining Light Academy, we offer a summer camp program to our regular students, as well as other members of our community in Greensboro, North Carolina and the surrounding area. Like everything we do, our summer camp is firmly based on our Christian ideals.

Summer Camp starts on Tuesday, May 26th and runs all summer (with the exception of July 4th) to August 7th.

Here are some other things to know about our summer camp:

• We accept children from age 3 to 5th grade.
• Summer Camp Hours are 7:30 AM until 6:00 PM.
• The weekly fee includes lunches and an afternoon snack. There’s no need to worry about packing anything.
• Also included in the weekly fee are off-site field trips and on-site instructional shows. There are usually two a week!
• We offer additional child discounts for families with multiple children.
• Rates: $160 per week, $200 registration fee (non-refundable)

Why Summer Camp?

Summer camp is more than just a place for kids to go when they need adult supervision during the day. At camp, kids have learning opportunities that they may not be afforded during the school year because of teachers’ obligations to complete the required curriculum and promote student achievement. Summer camp is a special place that offers enrichment, where kids can be curious outside of the classroom, explore interests, and have new experiences.

Kids also improve their social skills at summer camp. They’re introduced to a new group of peers and get to make new friends from different classes and grades. They practice teamwork, conflict resolution, and communication, helping to build lifelong skills that they can take into the next school year and eventually adulthood.

It’s also worth considering that summer camp is just fun! Kids get a break from technology and will spend more time outside. Whether they’re doing arts and crafts, going on a field trip, or playing games with other kids and counselors, they’re making long-lasting memories every day.
