Christian Education vs. Public School Education

The decision of sending your child to a Christian school or a public school should never be taken lightly, as it can affect your child’s education and future. We at Shining Light Academy want to make the decision easier for you by discussing the major differences between the two to see how they compare.

Christian Education vs. Public School Education

Here’s how Christian education compares to public school education.

  • Spiritually based learning: As you might assume, our curriculums are paired with spiritually based learning methods, whereas public schools do not offer this combination. It’s important to note that the religious inspiration for our curriculum does not make it any less effective than public school curriculum. We maintain a healthy balance between the spiritual and educational, ensuring that your children receive a formal education as well as an education with Christian values from teachings from the King James Version of the Bible.
  • High academic standards: Most public schools uphold high academic standards for their students to prepare them for further education. We do the same to ensure our students are prepared for any next steps they choose to take. We even have students who have graduated with more credits than their public school peers and have been accepted into both private and public colleges.
  • Class sizes: Many public school systems have larger class sizes, making it difficult for the students to receive the individual attention and extra help they need in the classroom. In our Christian education facility, we offer smaller class sizes that allow for individual attention and assistance in any subject. We also take the time to tailor lessons to the individual’s learning style when needed.
  • Fostering success in athletics and arts: Athletics and arts often play an important role in public schools. We aim to help our students find the same passion and dedication to athletics and artistic endeavors by offering a variety of artistic outlets and sports teams. We have received many medals and ribbons.

When deciding between public school education and Christian education, you don’t have to worry that your child won’t have the same room to grow and develop. Instead, focus on the environment and the values you want your child to be taught and surrounded by as they go through school. Give us a call if you would like to learn more or to schedule a tour.
