At Shining Light Academy, we believe Christian education is essential for the development of our students’ character. While it is possible for students to pursue religious instruction through their church or through individual study, we believe the most effective way to provide this instruction is through a child’s everyday schooling. - Christian Education Teaches Academic Skills – One reason why we include Christian education in our curriculum is because studying scripture is a great way to practice other academic skills, such as reading. When students study the Bible, they learn to see connections between multiple passages and to understand symbolism, themes, and other literary techniques. They can then apply these analytical skills to other texts.
- Christian Principles Shape History – Another reason why we believe Christian education is important is because religion is one of the driving forces of history. We teach students about the history of Christianity and other faiths so they can learn how these religious principles have affected historical movements across time and how these principles continue to shape our world today.
- Christian Education Builds Character – The third and most important reason why we emphasize Christian education is because it helps our students develop strong moral values and build good character. We provide instruction in scripture, and we offer opportunities for students to reflect on its lessons and apply them to their own lives.
